Track Information

Orange Green – Purple Solo?

At BBB you will be able to choose your stream – Orange, Green or Solo according to what you want to get out of your workshop weekend. Each colour will have a description of the kind of things you are looking to learn during your time at BBB. Choose the track that most interests you. We are not interested in using level related words like ‘beginner’, ‘intermediate’ and ‘advanced’, because everyone is essentially always working on basics. Poke your head into any ‘advanced’ class at any blues festival around the world and what are they working on? Yep, basics.

Each track will have about 6 classes on their tracks specialisation with a minimum of 2 classes concentrating on other topics.

Purple is our audition track – you will need to indicate that you would like to try out when you register for whichever track you choose whether it is Orange or Green. It is open to all dancers, but we strongly suggest that you have been dancing for a while. How long is a while? It’s a long enough period of time that you have a grounded confidence in your skill set and your own individual style, and you would describe yourself as ‘experienced’.

Check out our Blog on choosing your track if you are not sure what you want to do.

organe-buttonOrange – for Hungry Dancers

This is for the dancer who wants to work on a bit of everything. Technique, aesthetic, vocab, styling points, footwork, conversational social dance skills, and more. Why should you settle for working on just one element? There is no way you will leave this track without being a different dancer. Caution: may cause brain to melt – but in a very good way!

green-buttonGreen – Nitty Gritty

You think you can dance? In these classes we will go into the finer details, pull apart everything we think we know, and put it back together slightly differently. This track will also examine the value of artistic expression within our dancing. These classes will also have a strong focus on musicality and understanding the music we all love so much.

solo-buttonSolo – Says what it does on the tin

This track pretty much says what it does on the tin. We will look at our solo blues movements and aesthetics, and focus on high quality movement for use in both solo and partnered dancing. After all, if we can’t dance with ourselves, how can we dance with others? This track is for all levels of experience.

Purple – Audition Track

This track will be open to a small number of experienced lead and follows. Ask yourself right now, are you experienced?

There will be strictly limited places. If you are interested in taking part, please sign up for one of the other tracks above, and indicate on your registration that you would also like to audition. Auditions will take place on Friday evening at about 9pm. This will be the only opportunity you will have to audition so you must be there at that time to take part.

The judges decision will be final. There is no appeals process. Like competing, sometimes these decisions come down to how you do on the day. If you don’t make the track this time around, don’t worry. This one audition is not a reflection of you as a dancer, and props to you for putting yourself out there.
